As the winner of our “New Year, New You” contest in January, Arlene Morin was recently treated to a full day of pampering, including a style consultation with me, and hair and makeup with Douglas Carroll Salon. Arlene is a single mother who is pursuing further education to increase her job prospects. I can think of no one more deserving of a fresh new start!
Before Arlene’s Makeover
I arranged to meet Arlene at Macy’s at Crabtree Valley Mall, where we discussed her lifestyle, as well as her most flattering colors, styles and fabrics. We started with a great jean to replace her stretchy black pant. Every one needs a great pair of jeans! With spring around the corner, I pointed Arlene to a three-quarter-sleeve top that can be paired with a light jacket. Finally, we lucked out in finding a great deal on a flat boot. Once the outfit was complete, we were off to Douglas Carroll Salon for hair and makeup. Doug David, owner and artistic director, met with us and discussed what he envisioned for Arlene. He began with color, added auburn highlights, and finished with a signature haircut. Arlene looked fresh and current, and seemed really excited about her fun new style.
Katie then applied makeup, while sharing with Arlene the color tips and application tricks that will help her re-create the look herself.
The NEW Arlene!
Arlene was excited to share her experience:
“I want to let everyone know how great it feels to win the ‘New Year, New You’ contest from Wardrobe Consulting. Suzanne showed me the colors and styles that accentuate my figure. She also taught me what to stay away from. A new tunic, jeans, boots, color, highlights, cut and style, and a makeup session…now that’s a ‘new you!’”
I followed up with Arlene to ask about her new look. She’s received a lot of positive feedback, including compliments from some people who even thought she had lost weight.
I’d like to thank everyone who played a role in Arlene’s transformation, including Debra Sell from Macy’s, and Doug David and Katie from Douglas Carroll Salon.
